About
Europa Series Wargames (ESW) is the name of the business entity which has been granted rights to utilize Europa’s trademark and copyrights. ESW has the rights and ability to reprint, update, and produce official Europa games, modules, and other products in print, digital, and computerized format.
Marc Miller currently serves as interim executive officer of ESW. Marc is supported by John Astell and Bill Stone, both of whom have been involved with Europa for many decades, going back to their years at GDW and before.
Europa Series Wargames is based in Bloomington, Illinois.
At the behest of the Europa Foundation, ESW currently supports several long-term projects that reflect both preservation and innovation:
Computer Europa
Computer Europa represents our vision of the Europa Series as a fully supported computer-assisted gaming environment. The objective is not to replace traditional play, but to enable geographically distant participants to play Europa games with computer support handling routine tasks such as movement accounting, combat resolution, and record-keeping—freeing players to focus on strategy, history, and decision-making.
Digital Archive
The Digital Archive project is dedicated to bringing the Europa Series fully into the 21st century. This effort focuses on creating and maintaining high-quality digital files of games, components, and supporting materials that can be stored locally, accessed reliably, and preserved over time. The archive ensures that Europa materials are protected from loss, degradation, and technological obsolescence, while remaining accessible to players and researchers.
Barbarossa Unleashed
Barbarossa Unleashed (working title) is the culmination of decades of design experience and community feedback: the ultimate expression of the Europa treatment of the Eastern Front in World War II. Conceived as the magnum opus of Europa’s chief designer, this project draws on generations of playtesting, scholarly research, and constructive criticism from thousands of players and historians. The goal is the next evolutionary step in the Europa Series—pushing both playability and historical accuracy to their highest achievable level within a single, unified design.
Other titles
ESW is committed to reprinting and updating older Europa titles and adding new titles to the series in pursuit of the ultimate goal of Grand Europa.
