Bloomington, IL. 22 July 2026 – The Europa Series Wargames Foundation announces that Paul R. (“Rich”) Banner has been officially granted a registered trademark for Europa by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The Foundation assisted Rich in registering the trademark, and Rich is in the process of transferring the trademark into the Foundation’s stewardship of Europa. Rich has owned the unregistered Europa trademark for decades, but USPTO registration increases protection of the Europa intellectual property and assures Europa players that they are receiving authentic Europa games and other products from a trusted source.The Foundation further announces it has completed all legal steps to secure renewed copyrights for all Europa-related games, modules, and other materials published by GDW and GRD. “With the registered trademark and copyrights secured, we have realized a major milestone in republishing the existing Europa games and moving forward in creating new Europa works through Europa Series Wargames,” said Marc Miller, a director of the Foundation.
The Europa Series Wargames Foundation is a non-profit registered in Illinois to preserve, protect, and promote the Europa series of historical wargames. Europa Series Wargames is a commercial company licensed by the Foundation to publish Europa products in print and digital formats. ⬣
